Pulsatile CFD Numerical Simulation to investigate the effect of various degree and position of stenosis on carotid artery hemodynamics

This study is intended to investigate the effect of various degree and position (pre-bifurcation post-bifurcation) stenosis on carotid artery hemodynamics trough realistic CFD numerical simulations with appropriate turbulence model. The blood rheological properties were assumed as incompressible Newtonian fluid. A 3 dimensional model a non-stenotic was used this investigation. Several tested. geometry altered 30% 70%pre-bifurcation model, 70% post-bifurcation Pulsatile conducted for each stenotic models. SST k-ω Low-Reynolds number found be more simulation. As pre-bifurcation increases from 70%, ICA maximum velocity 12% 65%. Also, ECA 5% 45%. Besides, ratio decreases by 22% but ratioincreases 101%. increases, takes longer time decrease after peak systole becomes higher than throughout cardiac cycle. mild at does not show much hemodynamics. However, even resulted in fluctuating both ECA, especially during diastole cycle
